As a 13 year resident of Beit Shemesh, Israel, I have seen the need to get our community plogging! Plogging can have a positive impact both on an individual level and the community overall. I am enclosing two articles from other start-up ploggers and how plogging has made positive changes in their communities and lives.
In What It Feels Like to Be a Plogger first published in Independent.ie Ireland. The writer speaks to his journey of being an athlete, running numerous races across the globe and then beginning plogging in his community. He speaks to the advantages and gives great tips and insights on keeping things fun and positive and creating a culture to plog.
This is my graphic from out last plog/clean-up.
The second article How to Start Plogging (or Eco-Running) to Reduce Litter published in Ecology Runner , they clearly the explain the best tips on how to plog and things to be mindful of to have a good and safe time while plogging. They highlight how anyone can do it, not just athletes or runners, but anyone just out on a walk in their community!
Based on these two articles and my experience with Coursera/Northwestern - What is Social I have developed these Three Action Items:
· SIMPLE: Plogging is EASY and EVERYONE can do it!
· IMPROVE: Plogging will improve your health, fitness and community!
· CULTURE: Plogging will build a new culture of health, fitness and environmental awareness in our community
We can all work together to get fitter and make our community a better place!
